Journeys End is set towards the end of March in a British dugout in St Quentin, in France. Specific dates are not given but it probably refers to the three days of 19th st– 21 March, the run up to the start of Germanys spring offensive, Operation Michael, which caused many casualties and led to retreat by the British for several days.
